prosthesis needs of the rural residents. An interview and questionnaire survey was carried out for 864 people who lived in Kumryung-gun, Kyungsangpook-do, from February 1 to March 30, 1990. The summarized results are as follows:
The rate of persons who experienced the oral disease was 27.3 per 100 persons during I year and it was highest in the age group of 10-19.
During I year period, 82.6% of the cases had treated the perceived oral disease, 17.4% had done no action. Of the cases who had treated the perceived oral disease, 47.4% had treated experienced oral disease at community health center or subcenter, 28.2% had treated at dental clinics, and 11.3% had treated by the unauthorized illegally.´
The rural residents had utilized community health center or subcenter frequently for their perceived oral diseases except prosthetics, but they had utilized the unauthorized illegally frequently for prosthetics.
The rate of person who had experienced dental prosthesis during ten-year period was 43. 7% among 18 years and older, and it was higher in female as compared to male and it was highest in age group of 40-64 year old.
The rate of person who had treated dental prosthetics by the unauthorized illegally was 52.7%, and the reason for it was cheap-price fee (44.2%), while the rate of person who had treated dental prosthetics at community health center was 7.5%. Of the persons who had treated dental prosthetics by the unauthorized Regally, 49.7% had satisfied and 14.3% had done out of use, while each was 80.2 %, 4.5 % at dental clinics.
The rate of persons with missing teeth was 46.6%. Of the persons with missing teeth, 53. 4 % did not treat the missing teeth due to economic reason and 70.5% hoped treating the dental prosthetics at dental clinics.
